Global auction powerhouse Christie’s has appointed Bonnie Brennan as its new CEO, effective February 1, marking a significant leadership transition for the company.
Brennan takes over from Guillaume Cerutti, who has led the London-based auction house since 2016. While stepping down from his CEO role, Cerutti will remain Chairman of Christie’s—a position he assumed in January 2024. In addition, he will oversee artistic and cultural initiatives for Artémis, the holding company owned by François Pinault and François-Henri Pinault, and serve as President of the Pinault Collection of art.
Who Is Bonnie Brennan?
With nearly three decades of experience in the luxury and fine art sectors, Brennan has been with Christie’s since 2012. Like her predecessor, she previously worked at Sotheby’s, Christie’s longtime rival.
Since 2021, Brennan has served as President of Christie’s Americas, a region that accounts for 48% of all auction sales. Under her leadership, the company has expanded its investment in technology and digital sales, while diversifying its offerings to attract a younger and more diverse clientele.
“This transition is a privilege, and I look forward to leading Christie’s into its next chapter of innovation and growth,” said Brennan.
The Future of Christie’s
Christie’s remains a dominant force in the auction world, and Brennan’s appointment signals continued evolution. With a growing focus on digital transformation, high-value art sales, and engaging the next generation of collectors, industry watchers are eager to see how she will steer the company in an increasingly competitive market.
As Christie’s embarks on this new era, will Brennan’s leadership redefine the landscape of luxury auctions?
