On December 20, 2024, Anthony D’Amore, 73, the owner of a Fort Lauderdale jewelry business, was tragically killed during an argument with a customer over the sale of a Rolex watch. According to local police reports, the suspect, 56-year-old Nenad Milosevich, has been charged with second-degree murder.
Milosevich, described as a "family friend," told detectives that he had visited D’Amore's showroom to buy jewelry for his girlfriend for Christmas. However, D’Amore was hesitant to complete the sale because Milosevich still owed him money for a $20,000 Rolex, leading to a heated argument between the two. According to Milosevich's statement to the police, the dispute escalated, and he struck D’Amore twice in the throat before choking him.
After the attack, Milosevich admitted to leaving D’Amore unresponsive, taking jewelry from the store, and destroying the security camera, which he later discarded by throwing it off a bridge.
D’Amore’s body was discovered inside his business on December 23, after his wife requested a welfare check from the sheriff’s department. This tragic incident marks the fourth jeweler's death in 2024, with another Florida jewelry store owner, Ghazi “Gus” Osta, being killed in a similar dispute in July.
The incident highlights the growing risks and violence jewellers face while conducting their business.
