During the JCK Las Vegas show, Benny Oeyen, head of market development for platinum group metals at Anglo American, introduced PGI's latest innovation: Inoveo, a platinum alloy engineered for improved durability and ease of use. Drawing a comparison, Oeyen noted that while platinum offers beauty and longevity, it can be challenging for jewelers due to its impact on tools and workability. Inoveo, he explained, is designed to address these issues, being 40% harder than standard platinum alloys and more comparable to white gold in workability.
Developed by Anglo American and Alloyed, Inoveo maintains platinum’s signature brightness, durability, and natural white color while enhancing wear resistance. The alloy’s unique composition—what Oeyen called a "5% secret sauce"—has been likened to the formula behind Coca-Cola. In a significant partnership, PGI announced that jewelry supplier Stuller would serve as the exclusive distributor for Inoveo.
Jenny Luker, president of PGI USA, highlighted Inoveo’s practical advantages: increased efficiency in machining, polishing, and setting. She noted that Inoveo delivers all the benefits of platinum while handling more like gold, presenting a valuable opportunity for manufacturers.
