MiaDonna, a lab-grown diamond retailer, has unveiled a new 1,000-square-foot boutique in the upscale Bridgeport Village shopping center, located in the Portland suburb of Tigard, Oregon. This store replaces its previous Portland location and is part of a broader strategy to establish a stronger retail presence.
A Template for Future Expansion
“We have an aggressive retail expansion planned,” says Anna-Mieke Anderson, CEO of MiaDonna. The Tigard location is expected to serve as a blueprint for future stores across the country.
This growth comes on the heels of new ownership. Last year, MiaDonna was acquired by an Indian lab-grown diamond grower, whose identity remains undisclosed. The new owner, certified as “sustainably rated” by SCS Global Services, is now MiaDonna’s exclusive supplier.
The Truth About Lab-Grown Sustainability
While lab-grown diamonds are often marketed as ethical and sustainable, Anderson cautions that this isn’t always the case. “Consumers often assume all lab-grown diamonds are sustainable and ethical,” she explains. “That is not true, especially with so many middlemen entering the market.”
To reinforce its commitment to sustainability, MiaDonna recently regained its B Corporation certification, which it first received in 2019. This certification highlights the company’s dedication to balancing profit with purpose.
